Levi's Video Premiere!!

After seeing the previous post, I'm beginning to have second thoughts about doing this . . . but we've decided to host a DVD Premiere for the new Levi's team video. This flic has a lot of Hawaii in it and even more good riding. We're showing the video on the wall behind BIKEFACTORY at 7:30pm on Wednesday, November the 26th. Come out and celebrate Thanksgiving with us. Well at least the night before Thanksgiving with us. In the spirit of Thanksgiving, please bring 2 canned food items for the Hawaii Food Bank. All we request of you is that you don't park in the lot. If you have any questions, please ask.

You're welcome . . . All of you.

Yes, you can all thank me. A couple of months back I did an interview with one of the local news papers regarding cycling as an alternate and viable mode of transportation for most people in Honolulu. When gas was hovering around $4.29, I said something to the effect of "we're never going to see a $3.00 gallon of gas again, it's only going to go higher." I guess the oil speculators heard about my comment and decided to make me look like an ass. Of course it is for the benefit all of us, except my quote was printed . . . and I do look like an ass.

I went and got gas for my truck tonight and was surprised when I saw this. Yep, $2.66 a gallon. Now I don't really feel that this is directly related to me but if I can facetiously take credit for something positive, why not?

All Hallows Eve!

Hey everyone, looking for something to do before you go Trick or Treating? Well Tarrin and some of his boys are holding a "Fixie" race along King St. on Halloween. Don't worry, it's early enough so you'll have plenty of time to cruise Waikiki and act like a dumbass. Anyways, the race should be fun. $10.00 with no costume, $5.00 with one. Fixed gears and BMX bikes only. Check out Alohafixed.com for more info.

Vegas '08

We just got back to normal from our trip to Los Angeles/Las Vegas. It's our annual pilgrimage for the Interbike tradeshow but since we live on a rock in the middle of the Pacific, we turn it into a road trip by driving from L.A. Marty & I flew into L.A. on Monday morning and met up with Ruben from San Pedro.

Dennis flew in on Tuesday afternoon and we drove out to 'Vegas at 1:30am on Wednesday. Please keep in mind that it takes about 4 hours or so and our first appointment was at 9:00am. That doesn't leave a lot of time for food and sleep especially since we didn't get our hotel room until Wednesday that afternoon. We did, however, shack up at Marty's old haunt, PT's Bar & Grill. Thanks for not kicking us out guys. Biggie Mike and Maui Shawn flew in that morning and met up with us at the show. That night we hit up The Joint at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino for the NORA cup awards and the Levi's team vid debut. Let's hear it for the VIP room!!

Mike had to fly out Thursday morning and Ruben and Marty slept off a little of Wednesdays libations. That night was pretty low-key so we ended up at Mat's room for another painting party. We called it a relatively early evening so we'd be cool for the lake. Friday we all rented a boat and cruised Lake Mead for a few hours.

We hit up the rock in the middle of the lake with the ledge. Cuyler, Scotty Powell, Maui Shawn and I jumped off of it last year. Shawn was down to do it again and took Marty with him.

On the way out of town, we stopped off at Sean McKinneys' favorite 'Vegas spot BJ's and hung out with Billie Jean. She was rockin' the merch.

Then we dropped off Maui Shawn at the airport and hit the highway back to L.A. There's a cool joint in Long Beach called Taco Beach with a cool bartender named Green Bean. She was sportin' the merch, too.

Then we went to Haughton Park and Marty was practicing his Alley-Oops.

Our last night, I took the boys up to this cliff in 'Pedro to show off my view of Los Angeles.

As with most of our trips, this one was way too short but very fun. There are plenty more pictures that I could put up and if you ask nicely, I just might do it.

Justice or Harassment???

can't believe it, got a criminal ticket for drinking, in private property. well at least i thought it was. now i gots to go to court, lose wages, waste time. BULLSHIT!!!
the officer had so many reasons why he had do this. most ridiculous #1: micronesians are complaining to them. citing racism. what da fuck! #2: homeless people are complaining to them.(they don't have any property, but they still get wasted anywhere and beg for money. hmm, what the fuck! #3: ah fuck it, i lose anyway.

so next time you want to drink alcohol at your own home, in your driveway, your work place which is private property, don't put it in a paper bag, just have cars, cardboard, dead people, squat and look really shady, etc. blocking your tasty beverage from the cops, you are ok to yell at people, beg for money, take a shit in someone's (private property) business, you'll be fine.

Welcome home, Dennis!

Dennis just spent some time in Japan visiting family and friends. Dennis is always on the look out for neat stuff and you can definitely find some in Japan. While there, he picked up this new contraption . . . It allows him to run and ride.

Nah, I'm just kidding. You all know Dennis wouldn't buy anything this freakin' dumb! I just hope my boss doesn't see it.

Speaking of Catfish, check out www.SystemCycle.com for a chance to win a bike by coming up with some artwork that he'll actually get tattooed on him! That kid doesn't quit.

Meet The Streets!?

I've had a lot of people ask me about a real Street Contest and I honestly can't think of where we could actually hold a street contest here in Honolulu. I do have an option for you though. Ron Wilkerson says that 2-Hip is celebrating their 25th Anniversary this year. For those of you who don't know, Ron was a vert god before Mattt and did both the 2-Hip King Of Vert and Meet The Streets contest series' back in the late 80's-mid 90's. In honor of their 25th birfday, they will be holding a Meet The Streets Jam in downtown San Francisco this Summer, although they are trying to have it on Treasure Island under the Bay Bridge. If you can make it out, you will have a good time. Ron knows how to throw a party, and this being their Silver Jubilee it's bound to be a doozie!

Hit The Brakes!!

I get a surprise call from my old man the other day. It seems as though he's in town from Florida and needs a ride from the airport. I go and pick him up and then park my truck behind the shop with his bags in it. While it's there, some people were test riding a moped in the parking lot. Don't ask me why. Just because you can turn a throttle doesn't mean you can hit the brakes! We have a camera behind the shop to catch the action . . .

Damn!
